Origin Digital ASI Helps Origin Digital Bridge Technologies
When Origin Digital needed to build a new High Definition television production facility to support broadcast quality acquisition of live events to be integrated into their web streaming, archiving and production environment they turned to Azzurro Systems Integration (ASI). The project involved the design and integration of an HD 1080P format facility with embedded audio. Origin had the goal of acquiring the highest quality standard possible to future proof the facility. Located at 300 Boulevard East in Weehawken the facility is Origin Digitals primary US master control facility.
The new design provides for a more streamlined workflow and incorporates enhanced monitoring, routing, production and editing facilities. Rated for 3 Gbps HD Origin Digitalis readily adaptable for the industries technological changes.
The Project
The project created a new on-air media production and management facility converging both traditional media operations with on-line and IP based delivery. Origin’s live, 24/7 environment required that the facility stay operational with no service interruptions while the build-out, integration and test occurred.
ASI initiated construction and integration of the new technical facilities on one floor along with all the equipment associated with regular operations housed in the separate central equipment room. Once phase 1 was operational, ASI began work on a redundant backup media production room located on a separate floor.
Within the media production environment, ASI consolidated the operational processes into multi-functional workstations. Each workstation has the ability to access all resources necessary to perform any required function, allowing any of the 15 production stations to control and manage any of the Origin Digital media services products. These workstations can act alone, or be combined to create multiple process scenarios focusing primarily on the delivery of on-air quality broadcast and production. To expand the monitoring abilities available within each workstation, a multiple image wall display was installed and is visible from all workstations within the Control Room.
There are also two Final Cut Pro edit stations, each capable of creating unique content, as well being utilized during on-air broadcast or for the production and distribution of fixed duration content. Both have the ability to edit both High Definition and Standard Definition content.
