Close on the heals of ASI’s successful build of Origin Digitals Weehawken High Definition television production facility ASI was asked to perform again, this time in London.

The project was to build a new television production facility that will be housed on the lower ground floor of the Old Bailey office building. ASI worked with Origin Digital to develop the conceptual design and detailed equipment list, as well as, the procurement of equipment and installation materials necessary to implement this project. ASI also provided the project management supervision in order to complete the project.


The Project
The new facility has the capabilities to; 1) acquire and manage content derived via satellite, Internet, and direct fiber pathways, 2) ingest and/or stream program material, 3) create unique content through available digital edit stations, 4) Produce and integrate live program material and 5) provide visibility into the IT infrastructure.

ASI’s design satisfies the above criteria with a consolidated design, which places the operational processes into multi-functional workstations. Each workstation possesses the ability to access all resources necessary to perform any required function. These workstations can act as stand-alone, or be combined to create multiple process scenarios.

To expand the monitoring abilities available within each workstation, a multiple view wall display was added to enable confirmation of both the status and quality of ongoing services. The multiple view display will be visible from all workstations within the Control Room.

On the creative side, Origin Digitals Final Cut Pro edit systems are integrated to provide two independent stations, each capable of creating unique content. The ability to edit both High Definition and Standard Definition digital content is available within each station.

The combined operational abilities reside within the seventeen (17) by twenty (20) foot space provided by Origin digital. Three (3) support racks housing; signal distribution, media encoder/decoders, satellite reception, and fiber optical connectivity are housed in a separate room within the facility.

ASI pre-wired and delivered the support racks at our Northvale, NJ facility.  This simplified on-site installation.
